Culinary Director

Pay Rate: $25/hour
As the Culinary Director, you will lead and inspire a team of trainees, overseeing both cafe operations and culinary education at the Rooster Cafe. This position is ideal for a passionate chef and mentor who thrives in a dynamic environment that blends food service with vocational training.
The Rooster Cafe at ServiceNet's Northampton headquarters is more than just a cafe; it's a hands-on vocational training program designed to provide individuals with autism and developmental challenges the opportunity to build culinary and hospitality skills. Evolving from a simple farmhand lunch service to a full-fledged cafe, the Rooster Cafe serves breakfast and lunch while fostering essential workplace skills in a supportive environment. At the Rooster Cafe, trainees develop expertise in:
- Food preparation and kitchen safety
- Customer service and cash handling
- Planning and problem-solving
- Punctuality, hygiene, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities:
- Culinary Training and Mentorship: Teach cooking techniques, kitchen safety, and customer service skills. Mentor trainees in real-world cafe operations.
- Cafe and Catering Management: Oversee daily operations, maintain quality standards, and manage catering services.
- Community Engagement and Growth: Develop new business opportunities, menu innovations, and community partnerships.
- Administrative and Compiance: Ensure food safety, maintain records, and support program development.
Qualifications:
- Experience in culinary arts, food service management, or hospitality
- Passionate about mentoring individuals with autism and developmental disabilities
- Strong leader with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Knowledgeable in food safety regulations and ServSafe certified (or willing to obtain)
