Carpentry Instructor

Pay: $22/hr
ServiceNet, a leading Human Services agency, is seeking compassionate, dedicated, and enthusiastic individuals to join our team. The Carpentry Instructor will develop and manage all aspects of wood shop production in a social enterprise program for people with developmental disabilities. At the core of this position is teaching. The Carpentry Instructor will assist program participants in gaining new skills and certifications necessary for employment in a carpentry related job. The job would entail miscellaneous tasks such as building chicken coops, building repairs, raised garden beds, etc. as well as teaching small shop classes with clear, patient, and effective communication appropriate for a vocational program for individuals with various disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employee must be able to drive, comfortable driving other people, have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record and have reliable transportation.
- Employee must be able to perform CPR and First Aid
- Applicable vocational certifications/degrees in carpentry or related field and/or two years of relevant work experience in the woodworking industry.
- Previous instructional experience preferred.
Qualifications:
- Previous carpentry experience
- Ability to manage all aspects of a Woodworking studio, including equipment, materials, and budget
- Ability to connect with people
- A deep belief in the potential of every human being and the patience to nurture that potential in others
- Excellent communication, computer and organizational skills
- Proficiency in use of hand and power tools
