MILIEU COUNSELOR
PREP PROGRAM- HOLYOKE
Monday-Friday: 9am-5pm
$17.00 per hour
We are seeking fulltime and part-time counselors to work in our Prevention and Recovery Early Psychosis Program (PREP). This position works with young adults in Holyoke, MA.
JOB OVERVIEW:
- This support staff position is responsible for establishing and overseeing a therapeutic milieu at PREP.
- This individual will co-lead groups and will also organize activities at the center to help young adult participants engage with PREP and with each other in order to foster socialization and recovery.
- This may include working with participants to set up a welcoming environment by decorating the space, organizing and playing games (e.g., ping pong, basketball, chess and taking participants on outings (apple picking, bowling, trips to the beach).
- The milieu counselor will also be responsible for helping participants orient to PREP and learning and abiding by rules of the center (e.g., refraining from use of illicit drugs at the center, attending groups, maintaining adequate personal hygiene, maintaining cleanliness in the center) and will help identify and troubleshoot obstacles with the participant’s clinical team.
- In addition, the milieu counselor will be responsible for coordinating student interns who will assist with milieu activities.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s level clinical support staff, preferably a certified peer specialist or the equivalent.
- 2 years (preferred) experience working with young adults with mental illness
- Employee must be CPR and 1st Aid certified.
- TB screen (negative results).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation
- Basic Computer Skills

- Monday Friday: 9AM-5PM
- $17.00 Per hour
